lujain tamer mansour

Lujain Tamer Mansour (b.2003) is a London based artist and filmmaker from occupied Jerusalem. Taking a pyscho-automatic filmmaking, drawing and sculpting approach, her work centres the play between childhood recall and Palestinian mysticism as an idle examination of wider occupational and exiled conditions involving the ‘Jerusalem Center of Life Policy’ and its implication on the passing psyche.

While completing her studies at the Slade School of Fine Art (UCL) in 2025, she developed a system of chronic diary keeping as an archival system of preserving that of which is fragile and disappeared.

Memory bleeds into the mundane, all the time.
Memory bleeds into dreams, all the time.
The residue is everywhere, all the time.

I remember we went back to the house but i wish it flew away, in my head i think it flew away

Mentally set in Mansour’s childhood Jerusalem bedroom, ‘bring me a thought I can act on’ is a visual play-diary exploring the state of exile; wondering and wandering through thoughts on how to love a homeland. While drawing on dance and color as fleeted memory systems within disappeared identities, this film is a personal exploration of what the body remembers about itself once the mind forgets.

My mother used to read this book all the time, it was called ‘عالم البرزخ’, which means world of the isthmus ... isthmus is a strip of land between two seas - but in arabic it refers to your soul stage after death... when you’re waiting for resurrection.

i beg you bird, you’re heading in their direction, say hello to my loved ones for me, tell me how they are and what happened

Mariam, do you think all birds fly? i think so, how else do they create swarms...what do you think happens to birds who don’t, who choose not to fly? I’m not sure, i think i met one

Narrated through the lens of a 16mm New York film diary, birds recalls the story of childhood mourning through the recognition of strangers in a temporary place.
